X (Twitter) Monetization Eligibility Checker

Updated August 2026

An X monetization checker is a free tool that determines whether you qualify for X's Original Content Rewards, Subscriptions, Ticketed Spaces, and Tips programs based on your follower count, impressions, and account status.

1

Your numbers

1K
5002K100K1M

Followers who pay for X Premium, a subset of your total follower count. Every follower bar X publishes is stated this way: 500 verified followers for Original Content Rewards, 2,000 Premium-holding followers for Subscriptions. Using your headline count here will overstate what you qualify for.

100K
100K1M5M50M

X Analytics, Posts, Impressions. Add up the last 90 days. Only organic counts; promoted impressions are excluded. Subscriptions uses this number.

25K
10K500K5M

Home Timeline impressions from verified users, with impressions on your replies left out. Creator Studio, Original Content Rewards shows an eligibility status; X has never published what number sits behind it, so this is your own estimate. It is a much smaller figure than the one above, so do not reuse that one here.

At 1K verified followers, 25K qualified impressions over 90 days and 100K total organic impressions over 3 months, you qualify for 1 of 4 X monetization programs. The path list shows the fastest route to the rest, and Tips works today with zero requirements.

Your path in, in order

Every requirement you have not met yet, sorted by what unlocks money soonest. The full rulebook, met requirements included, is in the cards below.

X Premium subscription (2 programs)

fix it

Required for Ticketed Spaces and Subscriptions.

History of hosting Spaces (Ticketed Spaces)

fix it

You need to have hosted at least a few Spaces before applying.

X Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business (Original Content Rewards)

fix it

Premium Basic does not qualify you for the program. It does still count on the other side: impressions from Basic subscribers count toward your qualified impressions.

500K+ qualified impressions (last 90 days) (Original Content Rewards)

475K to go

Home Timeline impressions from verified users, with impressions on your replies left out of this bar. Creator Studio, Original Content Rewards shows an eligibility status; X has never said whether it shows you the underlying number. Do not use your total impressions from X Analytics: this is a much narrower count. You have 25K of 500K.

2,000+ verified followers (Subscriptions)

1K to go

X's Subscriptions page calls these verified followers; its Monetization Standards page is more precise and says followers who hold a Premium, Premium Business or Premium Organizations subscription. Same bar, stated two ways, and it is a subset of your total follower count. You have 1K of 2K.

5M+ organic impressions (last 3 months) (Subscriptions)

4.9M to go

Check X Analytics > Posts > Impressions for the last 90 days. You have 100K of 5M.

The full rulebook, all four programs

Every requirement X checks, met or not. Subscriptions is the only one with an earnings estimate: X publishes no rate for Original Content Rewards and no creator-reported figure has settled yet. Tips is always available and X takes no cut of it.

Original Content Rewards

4/6 met

Replaced Creator Revenue Sharing when X retired it on September 7, 2026. Anyone meeting the bar can apply; being in the old program was never a requirement.

Unlocks: Fortnightly payouts on qualified impressions, with a $30 minimum. X publishes no rate, and the $8 to $12 per million figure people quote came from the retired program on a wider count.

X Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business (not met)

Premium Basic does not qualify you for the program. It does still count on the other side: impressions from Basic subscribers count toward your qualified impressions.

500+ verified followers (met)

Verified (Premium) followers, not your total follower count.

500K+ qualified impressions (last 90 days) (not met)

Home Timeline impressions from verified users, with impressions on your replies left out of this bar. Creator Studio, Original Content Rewards shows an eligibility status; X has never said whether it shows you the underlying number. Do not use your total impressions from X Analytics: this is a much narrower count.

25K of 500K

Actively posting original content (met)

Original means you wrote, filmed, designed or produced it. Commentary counts. Copied, minimally modified, aggregated and cross-posted content does not, and posts exclusively about monetization itself are ineligible.

Account at least 3 months old (met)

X's Creator Monetization Standards sit under every monetization product and require an account active for at least 3 months. The individual program pages do not repeat it, so it catches people out.

18+, personal or business account, in a supported country (met)

Available in 116 countries. Political and government organisation accounts are excluded, as are accounts whose monetization is paused over a past policy violation.

Subscriptions

2/5 met

Unlocks: Exclusive content at a monthly price you pick from the points X offers. You keep up to 97% of gross; the rest is payment processing and app store fees.

X Premium subscription (not met)

Required to offer paid subscriptions to your followers.

2,000+ verified followers (not met)

X's Subscriptions page calls these verified followers; its Monetization Standards page is more precise and says followers who hold a Premium, Premium Business or Premium Organizations subscription. Same bar, stated two ways, and it is a subset of your total follower count.

1K of 2K

5M+ organic impressions (last 3 months) (not met)

Check X Analytics > Posts > Impressions for the last 90 days.

100K of 5M

Posted within the last 30 days (met)

Your account must show recent activity.

Account at least 3 months old (met)

X's Creator Monetization Standards sit under every monetization product and require an account active for at least 3 months. The individual program pages do not repeat it, so it catches people out.

Ticketed Spaces

1/3 met

Unlocks: Live audio sessions with ticket prices from $1 to $999. Best for workshops, Q&As, and exclusive discussions.

X Premium subscription (not met)

500+ followers (met)

History of hosting Spaces (not met)

You need to have hosted at least a few Spaces before applying.

Tips

Unlocks: Direct payments from followers via PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, or crypto. X takes no cut.

Enable Tips in your profile settings (met)

Go to Profile > Edit profile > Tips and connect PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, or a crypto wallet.

How this works

Original Content Rewards is the only pay-per-impression program left. X closed Creator Revenue Sharing to new enrollments on August 7, 2026 and retired it on September 7, 2026. Members earned through September 7 and got a final payout on or around September 11. That old program paid on engagement from Premium users, at a creator-reported effective rate of roughly $8 to $12 per million total impressions; if you see that number quoted for the new program, it is the wrong figure on the wrong count. Original Content Rewards pays on qualified impressions instead: unique views from Premium subscribers on the Home Timeline where at least half the post is visible. It has paid. X issued the first payout under it on August 28, 2026, and creators migrating over from Revenue Sharing on or after September 8 get their first payment on September 25. What X still has not published is a rate, a share, or a formula, so treat any per-impression figure quoted for it as guesswork. What X does state: payouts run fortnightly with a $30 minimum, through X Money in the US and Stripe everywhere else; applications are reviewed, with no stated timeframe; meeting the bar does not guarantee admission; and a rejected application gets one appeal before a 42-day wait to reapply. You do not need to have been in the old program to apply.

What stops a post earning. Original means you made it, and commentary counts. Copied posts, lightly edited reposts, compilations of other people's work, and cross-platform reposts do not. Two exclusions catch people out: a post carrying a helpful Community Note earns nothing, and so does content that is exclusively about monetization itself. The program pays for the thing, not for talking about getting paid for the thing.

Subscriptions. Exclusive content for paying followers at a monthly price you pick from the points X offers; X does not publish those price points, so treat any specific dollar tier quoted elsewhere as unverified. You keep up to about 97% of gross, and the rest is payment processing and app store fees, not an X cut. Best for creators who can ship consistent premium content.

Ticketed Spaces and Tips. Ticketed Spaces are paid live audio at $1 to $999 per ticket, ideal for workshops, Q&As, and expert panels. Tips has zero requirements and X takes no cut; enable it in your profile settings today.

Where to find your stats. Verified followers are the ones paying for Premium, a subset of the count on your profile. Organic impressions are in X Analytics (analytics.x.com) under Posts, summed over the last 90 days; Subscriptions is the only program that still gates on that number. Qualified impressions are the awkward one. Creator Studio, Original Content Rewards shows an eligibility status, and X has never said whether it shows you the number behind it, so treat the figure you enter here as your own estimate rather than something you can look up. What it is not is your X Analytics total: that counts everyone, on every surface, replies included. Account age is the Joined date on your profile, and X wants at least three months across every program.

Beyond platform monetization. Many creators earn more from brand sponsorships than from platform programs. The X Sponsorship Rate Calculator prices sponsored posts, threads, and Spaces.

Frequently asked

What are the requirements for X Creator Revenue Sharing?
There are none any more. X closed Creator Revenue Sharing to new enrollments on August 7, 2026 and retired it on September 7, 2026. Members earned through September 7 and received a final payout on or around September 11. Its replacement, Original Content Rewards, pays on Home Timeline impressions from verified Premium users rather than on total impressions. Its old bar of 5 million organic impressions and 500 verified followers went with it. What you want instead is Original Content Rewards, which requires an active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, at least 500 verified followers, and at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days, with impressions on replies excluded. That impression figure is a different metric from the old 5 million, not just a smaller number. X reviews applications within about 3 business days and says meeting the requirements does not guarantee admission.
How many followers do you need for X monetization?
It depends on the program, and the 500 and 2,000 figures belong to different programs rather than one threshold that moved. Tips has no follower requirement. Ticketed Spaces requires at least 500 followers. Original Content Rewards requires at least 500 verified followers. Subscriptions requires 2,000 followers who themselves hold a Premium, Premium Business or Premium Organizations subscription. Verified followers are a subset of your total follower count, so check that number rather than your headline count.
How much does X Creator Revenue Sharing pay?
Nothing now: X retired it on September 7, 2026. While it ran, it paid on engagement from Premium (verified) users rather than ads in replies, which was the original 2023 model, and in early 2026 X leaned the calculation on Verified Home Timeline impressions. X never disclosed a formula or a revenue split. Creators commonly reported an effective rate around $8 to $12 per million total impressions, the number X Analytics actually shows. Do not carry that figure over to Original Content Rewards. It was measured on total impressions and the new program pays on a much narrower base of qualified impressions, so the two are not comparable. The first Original Content Rewards payout went out on August 28, 2026, but X published no rate alongside it and no creator-reported figure has settled yet, so treat any per-impression number quoted for the new program as guesswork.
How do X Subscriptions work for creators?
X Subscriptions let you charge followers a monthly price for exclusive content, subscriber-only posts, and a badge next to their name in your replies. X takes no revenue share: you keep up to about 97% of gross, and the roughly 3% gap is third-party payment processing and app store fees, not an X cut. There is no $50,000 lifetime threshold and no drop to 90%, despite that claim being widely repeated online. X does not publish its price points on its help pages, so treat any specific dollar tier quoted elsewhere as unverified. To qualify you need X Premium, 2,000 followers who hold Premium subscriptions, 5 million organic impressions in 3 months, activity in the last 30 days, and to be 18 or older.
What are Ticketed Spaces on X?
Ticketed Spaces are live audio sessions where you set a ticket price between $1 and $999. Listeners pay to join the conversation. They work well for workshops, expert Q&As, exclusive interviews, and community discussions. To qualify, you need X Premium, 500+ followers, and a history of hosting regular (free) Spaces.
Do you need X Premium to monetize on X?
For most monetization programs, yes. Original Content Rewards, Subscriptions, and Ticketed Spaces all require an active paid subscription. US web pricing is $8/month for Premium and $40/month for Premium+. Premium Basic, at $3/month, does NOT unlock monetization: X lists Original Content Rewards and Creator Subscriptions only under the Premium and Premium+ tiers. The one exception is Tips, which is available to all accounts with no subscription needed.
How do I find my organic impressions on X?
Go to X Analytics (analytics.x.com or tap the analytics icon on any of your posts). Look at the Posts section and check your impression counts over the last 90 days. Add up the monthly totals to get your 3-month figure. Note that only organic impressions count; paid/promoted impressions are excluded from the monetization threshold.
How much can I earn from X monetization?
Earnings vary widely, and X publishes no rate for Original Content Rewards, so this tool shows no estimate for it. Under the retired Creator Revenue Sharing program creators reported an effective rate around $8 to $12 per million total impressions, so 5 to 10 million impressions in a month worked out to roughly $40 to $120. That is a historical figure on a wider count and does not transfer. Subscriptions can be more lucrative if you have an engaged audience: a 1% conversion on 10,000 followers at $5/month is roughly $485 a month, since X takes no revenue share and only payment processing and app store fees come off the top. Ticketed Spaces revenue depends on your topic, pricing, and audience size. Tips are entirely unpredictable.
What counts as a verified follower on X?
A verified follower is someone who has an active X Premium or Premium+ subscription (the blue checkmark). This is different from the old verification system where only public figures were verified. Since X Premium costs $8/month, your verified follower count will always be lower than your total follower count. X uses this metric because it indicates higher-quality, paying audience members.
Can I monetize on X without 5 million impressions?
Yes. Tips has no impression requirement and is open to everyone. Ticketed Spaces needs only 500+ followers and a track record of hosting Spaces. Original Content Rewards, which replaced Creator Revenue Sharing on September 7, 2026, asks for 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over 90 days instead. That is not the 5 million bar made smaller: the two numbers count different things, one every organic impression anywhere on X and the other only Home Timeline views from verified users with replies left out, so they cannot be compared and you cannot divide one by ten to get the other. Subscriptions is now the only program still using the 5 million organic impression threshold.
How and when does Original Content Rewards pay out?
Payouts run every two weeks, and there is a $30 minimum: anything below that rolls forward until it clears. The first payout under the program went out on August 28, 2026. How you get paid depends on where you are: US creators enroll in X Money, and everyone else connects a Stripe payout account and completes identity verification through Stripe. Anyone coming from the retired Creator Revenue Sharing program who already completed ID verification and connected a payout method does not have to do it again, and creators migrating on or after September 8, 2026 get their first payment on September 25. You do not have to have been in the old program to apply. X publishes no rate, so the size of a payout is not something you can work out in advance.
What counts as original content on X, and what gets you excluded?
Original means you wrote, filmed, designed or produced it, and commentary counts: reacting to news, analysing a cultural moment, or adding context others do not have is treated as original expression. Four things are not original: content copied wholesale, content changed only slightly (a word swapped, a filter, a speed change, a text overlay), aggregated compilations of other people’s work, and cross-platform reposts of content you did not make. Separately, a post earns nothing if it is exclusively about monetization coaching or maximising payouts, if it carries a helpful Community Note, or if it was created by automated means. Repeatedly asking people to like, reply, bookmark or repost can get you removed from the program.
Do impressions from Premium Basic subscribers count?
Yes, for pay. Basic works differently on each side of the program, which is what catches people out. Your own subscription must be Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business; Basic does not make you eligible. But X defines a qualified impression, the thing that earns, as a view from a subscriber to any paid tier, Basic included. So a Basic subscriber cannot join the program and still pays creators who are in it. The 500,000 application bar is a separate count: it is Home Timeline impressions from verified users, which is not the same population as the paid-tier list, so do not assume the two line up.
